GREEN DEVELOPMENT & TRADE ALLIANCE (GDTA)
Empowering Communities, Sustaining the Future
The Green Development and Trade Alliance (GDTA) is committed to creating a greener, healthier and more prosperous future by empowering communities with the skills, tools, and opportunities they need to thrive. Through our work in circularity, sustainable agriculture, inclusive trade and community health, we transform everyday challenges into pathways for resilience, innovation and dignity. Our approach is people-centered, environmentally conscious, and driven by the belief that communities hold the power to shape their own sustainable futures.
Who we are
Community-rooted and future-ready.
GDTA is a Kenyan non-profit organization headquartered in Machakos County. We work directly with rural and peri-urban communities to strengthen livelihoods by promoting regenerative practices, improving access to fair markets, nurturing young entrepreneurs and enhancing community health outcomes. We bring together practical training, evidence-based interventions, and collaborative partnerships to build systems that support long-term development.
Approach
Integrated programmes for dignified livelihoods.
Our work integrates four thematic areas that together create holistic, sustainable livelihoods. Through circularity initiatives, we help communities turn waste into value and skills. Through regenerative agriculture, we support farmers to adapt to climate challenges while restoring the land. Through inclusive trade, we connect micro-enterprises to opportunities that help them grow sustainably. Through community health outreach, we strengthen wellbeing and ensure that people have the knowledge and dignity required to participate fully in economic and social life.
Across all our work, we place innovation, community ownership and environmental stewardship at the heart of development.
Our impact is measured in dignity restored and systems transformed.
GDTA has supported hundreds of youth, farmers, women, and community members through hands-on training, enterprise development and health outreach. Our programmes have strengthened value chains, provided essential health services, built local repair capacity and strengthened climate resilience. Every year, our reach expands as we collaborate with more counties, institutions and stakeholders to grow sustainable development outcomes across Kenya.
